International Day of Persons with Disabilities

On December 3, 2020, on the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, members of the Youth Center of the Young Pedagogues Union and students of the Leaders' School attended a screening of Georgian female director Mariam Chachia's documentary "Listen to Silence".
"Listen to Silence" is a film about a 9-year-old boy with hearing loss who wants to fulfill his dream and learn to dance. The characters of the movie live in a world of silence, in a space that seems to be not far from us, located in one of the busiest places in the city.
The characters of the movie dance with the feeling of bits on the body, with mathematical calculations of rhythm.
The film occupies an important place in Georgian film documentary, as it also has an educational load.
After watching the film, the young people discussed with the director the problems, stigma, challenges and barriers to the integration of people with disabilities that are still strongly felt in our society.
📌 The meeting was organized within the framework of the "Tolerance, Civic Awareness and Integration Support Program" [PITA], implemented by the United Nations Association of Georgia (UNAG) with the financial support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
